Historical Research Notes

Medieval livestock looked markedly different from modern breeds. Victrix researched period-accurate animals from the 8th–12th centuries:

  • Sheep: Jacob's breed — small, knee-height, hardy in wet Western European climates
  • Goats: Old English primitive — small but tough, with spectacular horns
  • Horse: Breton — bulky and muscular, built for farm work
  • Cattle: Highland cow relatives — short, stocky, suited to harsh winters
  • Pigs: Retro-bred toward wild Boar — longer snouts, longer legs, hairier than modern breeds

Compatible With

SAGA, Pillage, and any Dark Age, Medieval, or fantasy historical wargame at 28mm scale.
